A Very Special Day in Indian Cricket

 


Virat Kohli made his Test debut in 2011 and is now the WTC final captain.

June 20 is a very special day for Indian Cricket. The three Indians greats made their debuts for India- Saurav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, and Virat Kohli.


Today is the day when Virat Kohli made his test debut at Sebina Pork. Now, he's guiding India in the World Test Championship final against New Zealand ten years later.

The current India captain made his debut in the longest format of the game on June 20, 2011, scoring 4 and 15 in his maiden match. He has 7,490 runs from 91 Tests, including 27 centuries, and a high score of 254*, ten years later.

In Australia, Pakistan, England, the West Indies, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Zimbabwe, these three captains have guided India to Test series victories.

Kohli played in his maiden Test match 15 years after Ganguly and Dravid made their debuts, however, he struggled with the bat, scoring only 19 runs in the entire match. He only managed to score four runs in the first inning. Fidel Edwards sent Kohli back to the pavilion when he came into bat at number five. Kohli scored 15 runs off 54 balls in the second innings before being removed by Fidel Edwards for the second time.

India finally won the match with a score of 63 runs.




Kohli has had a significant impact on the game since his Test debut and has gone on to become one of the best batters in international cricket. He became the first player in Test history to hit four double centuries in a row. In reality, he accomplished the feat as captain of the Indian team in the inaugural World Cup final, which he led against New Zealand.
